D-523 PORRO PRISM
The D-523 Porro Prism is a dependable fixture for maintaining a permanent azimuth reference and providing alignment normal to the basic reference. Space agencies and military establishments use D-523 Porro Prisms as a horizontal reference platform for azimuth aiming of various launch systems.
The dependability of the D-523 Porro Prism is based on the insensitivity of one axis related to the sensitivity in the other axis. The exit beam will be parallel to the beam entering the Porro Prism.
Therefore any rotation about the axis parallel to the vertex of the prism will not cause angular deviation. This feature enables angular measurement in one axis without regards to the other. |
