The K-Series Optoliner system is a complete test facility providing TV camera test engineers with all the tools necessary to obtain information on performance of virtually any available TV camera.
The system is self-contained, compact, and can be operated in bright daylight thus eliminating any need for wall charts. Because the Optoliner can be directly coupled to the TV camera or image sensor, any distortions caused by picture-taking lenses are avoided.
The heart of the system is the test pattern projector available in five model versions; each providing a different image format to best fit a given camera. Precision lenses project sharp, distortion-free images of selected test patterns onto the image sensor sensitive area with a high degree of uniformity of illumination. Four of the five models offer an optional variable image size feature which allows an 8% image size variation in both directions.
A large variety of Test Pattern Slides provide the test engineer with the capability to check parameters such as sensitivity, gamma, geometric distortion, resolution as a function of contrast or light level color registration, linearity, system square wave response, and many more.
A full line of Neutral Density Filters is available for testing of cameras down to extremely low light levels. Test patterns and filters can be exchanged in a matter of seconds.
The Digital Multipurpose Meter / Lamp Power Supply is capable of measuring color temperature, three decades of illuminance, and lamp voltage; all selectively displayed on a panel meter.

The readings are continuously monitored while the Optoliner projector is coupled to the TV camera. The sensor head which generates the signals for the digital meter is permanently installed in the projector main housing, A five foot cable that carries these signals also supplies power to the lamps.
All projectors have an identical interface plate for quick attachment of Illumination Systems, the most popular of which is the incandescent type. It contains three tungsten filament light bulbs which are specially manufactured for the Optoliner to operate with the desired color temperature at design voltage. Optional Illumination Systems driven by separate power supplies include near-infrared light emitting diodes and xenon flash bulbs.
A variety of camera adapters are offered to properly interface the Optoliner projector to most types of cameras.
Each standard Optoliner system and all its accessories are contained in a foam-lined carrying case to provide protection and transportability. Each standard system is composed of the following major components:
