D-615 Adjustable Reference Mirror

Model D-615 First Surface Adjustable Reference Mirrors are ideally suited to applications where reflecting surfaces must be positioned a true 90° to the surfaces on which they rest.  Applications include calibration of surface plates, angle blocks, precision squares, and optical elements.

Model D-616 Plane Parallel Adjustable Reference Mirrors have both front and back surfaces of the mirrors polished and parallel within one arc second to permit their use from either side.

The mirrors are gripped firmly, but without distortion, in steel mounts that rest on three stainless steel feet.  Two of these feet are designed to ride against a straightedge when checking flatness or straightness of surface.  Displacement of the leading foot up or down approximately 0.000 1 inch (0.025 mm) indicates an angular change of one arc second.  Two extremely fine adjustment screws with low-friction nuts permit easy adjustment to one arc second.  The mirrors may be used in either vertical or horizontal position without affecting adjustability, accuracy or stability.

Model D-615 and D-616 mirrors are useful in determining minute angular changes in gyro rate tables, turntables, rotary tables, and other mechanisms that move relative to a fixed surface.
