TWO AXIS AUTOCOLLIMATOR -- D-660

The Model D-660 Two Axis Autocollimator is capable of repeating angular measurements to ±0.1 arc second.

Model D-660 Two Axis Autocollimator in Model D-254 Adjustable Stand

    Features:
    • Separate readout dial for each axis
    • Standard 2.249" diameter barrel
    • Certification of accuracy traceable to National Institute of Standards and Technology

The Model D-660 Two Axis Autocollimator's two micrometer readout dials are independent of each other and have their own eyepieces for reading the scales.  The standard 2.24" diameter barrel makes interchanging this instrument with other mounts or using V-blocks easy.  With the Model D-165 High Intensity Light Source, fiber Light Guide and Adaptor the Model D-660 can be used for measuring uncoated parts.

Applications:
The Model D-660 Two Axis Autocollimator measures angles around an X-Y axis or intermediate points between obliquely tilted surfaces.

Autocollimator functions:
The basic function of an autocollimator is to detect and measure a deviation in the position of a reference reflective surface.  The autocollimator projects a collimated beam of light onto a reflective surface.  When a deviation in the position of that reflective surface occurs, a deviated beam of collimated light returns to the autocollimator.  A direct angular reading autocollimator, such as the Model D-660 Two Axis Autocollimator, will provide a direct angular measurement of the reflective surface deviation through acquisition and measurement of the deviated return beam angle.

For more theory of operation, please refer to the Principles of Autocollimation Application Note.
