POLYGONS -- D-633

Model D-633 12 Sided Polygon Mirror

Whenever a circle or portion of a circle must be divided into very accurate equiangular parts, the Model D-633 Polygons may be used as the master reference; e.g., calibration of rotary tables, potentiometers and resolvers.  Polygons are available having any number of faces up to 72.

    Features:
    • Precise master reference
    • Fused quartz material ensures stability
    • Large reflective faces for autocollimation
    • Certification of accuracy traceable to National Institute of Standards and Technology

Model D-633 Polygons are very compact and light weight, reducing to a minimum any undesirable loading.  The top surface of the polygon is polished to permit the user to autocollimate from this surface for precise positioning of the polygon axis.

Detailed Specifications for all Model D-633 Polygons:

Accuracy ±5 arc seconds.  See Note 1
Calibration 1/10 arc second of actual angle with uncertainty of no more than ½ arc second.  See Note 2
Flatness 1/5 fringe, each face
Surface Quality 80/50 per MIL-O-13830
Spindle Mounting Base Flat to 0.000 050" and square to axis of polygon within 20 arc seconds
Material Mirror Fused Quartz
Cover Aluminum
Base Stainless Steel
Coating Aluminum with protective overcoat per MIL-M-13508
Housing Finish Ivory Enamel
Carrying Case Ethafoam lined Finished Hardwood

NOTE 1: Angular dimensions for normals to reflecting surfaces are held to ±5 arc seconds.  Pyramid error of any face with respect to other faces does not exceed 8 arc seconds.  Polygons having higher accuracies are available.

NOTE 2: Calibration sheets are included giving readings between adjoining faces and from degrees to all faces.  Calibration is valid when the faces are parallel to the axis of rotation within 10 arc seconds.
