The Macroplan Interferometer D-311 is an optical instrument for measuring flatness of small reflective surfaces where 2X magnification is advantageous. Non-technical personnel can make accurate measurements on reflective surfaces as small) as 0.060 inch diameter.
With this instrument there is no physical contact between the master reference and the surface to be measured thus eliminating the, use of costly optical flats that must be replaced when worn.
For more theory of operation, please refer to the Principles of Interferometry Application Note.
