The Video-Laser Interferometer Model D-303L with 18X magnification will measure the flatness of parts from .030 in. to .5 in. dia. with no physical contact with the test sample. Viewing the fringe pattern on the monitor makes it easy for more than one person to make an evaluation. Its ideal for testing laser rods, crystals, disk heads, detectors, wafers, or any small polished parts that magnification will help in making an evaluation.
As with all D.O.I. interferometers, the D-303L can be used by skilled or unskilled personnel after a short course in interpreting fringe patterns. Initial alignment is fast and easy using the auxiliary eyepiece. This is accomplished by two adjustment screws that are also used to orientate the fringe pattern after alignment
Because the instrument is quite stable, vibration isolation tables are rarely needed.

By use of the interferometer you are able to see the sum of the errors contained in an element or in an entire assembly. These errors can then be corrected by re-working one or more surfaces to compensate for the total error. In other words, the Interferometer permits you to examine an optical train as a whole and then correct any of the surfaces just as if you were correcting a simple system containing but one element.
