The Model D-246M Adjustable Instrument Stand provides fixed platforms with adjustable height for precision optical instruments. Solidly built of webbed aluminum like lathes, these stable stands are convenient to use and easy to adjust - either locally or remotely - saving valuable manhours.
Automatic alignment to any selected point in the 41-inch travel is achieved by precision limit switches pre-set to the test requirements. The motor-driven lead screw is started remotely to change elevation, but can be stopped by the pre-set switches at any point from 9" to 50" above floor level. A scale marked in 0.125" increments speeds pre-setting and enables repeatability testing. The solid 1½" x 29" x 36" steel platform is extremely rigid, yet moves smoothly on the lead screw on low-friction Delrin fittings. Three-point supports are quickly retracted to allow movement of the entire stand on cushioned rubber wheels to new locations. All power requirements are met by conventional 60 Hz AC at 117 (±5) volts. 220V, 50Hz configuration is available.
Two 18" x 8" areas provide elevation bases for positioning instruments, mirrors or prisms. Angular tilt is achieved by adjusting the three knurled knobs for kinematic support, which firmly anchor the stand despite flood irregularities.
Model D-243 Stands are almost identical to the Model D-246M units, but provide a 8¼" x 11¼" mounting plate which rotates a full 360°. By turning the top knob, fine azimuth adjustment is obtained.
