PRECISION LEVEL -- D-205The Model D-205 Precision Level is an extremely precise instrument, designed for applications requiring maximum accuracy on small surfaces or in confined working areas.
The 5 inch (127 mm) long level base, machined from hardened steel, is relieved at each end to provide a 3.50 inch (88 mm) bearing face. It is then lapped flat to within 0.000 02 inch (0.5 μm). The kinematically mounted spirit bubble tube has a sensitivity of 5 arc seconds per division. A metal cover with a glass window protects the spirit bubble tube and mount. The precision block level can be used as a comparator for measuring and checking small linear differences between gage block combinations or gage blocks and a work piece. By using a horizontal table and bridging with the instrument, it is possible to check a difference of 0.000 005 inch (or 0.5 μm per 50 mm). The Model D-205C is relieved 3.50 inches (88mm) in the center with each end lapped flat to within 0.000 02 inches (0.5 μm). |
